 Thanks, yarikoptic!
 I've had the same problem and removing speech-dispatcher (and navit as
 dependency) fixed this issue.

 This change is also necessary to work around apparent bugs of the WIFI
 card (or driver), see http://docs.openmoko.org/trac/ticket/1625 .

Comment(by andy):

 Status of this is that Atheros stack cannot handle the device disappearing
 and reappearing with power on and off. They recommend that we stick WLAN
 stuff in modules, and have a scripts to rmmod the modules, turn off power;
 and turn on power then modprobe the modules.

 Currently we have the Atheros SDIO stuff built-in to the kernel.

Comment(by flamma):

 It didn't work. So, I tried with console and got that error. I thought
 that was the origin of the problem. Once solved, I have rebooted and
 Locations seems to start from desktop, but now that I looked at it, it
 seems to have the same behaviour as before.

Comment(by xbaldauf):

 We should definitely do this: My wifi is very unstable when moving the
 Freerunner around (all within the coverage area, of course): After about 3
 minutes, the connection is gone and wpa_supplicant just tries to associate
 to the accesspoint without any connection being establishable.

Comment(by wendy_hung):

 tested with the image below:
 kernel:20080826-asu.stable-uImage.bin
 root file system:20080829-asu.stable-rootfs.jffs2

 It's getting fast, before even need 10 more minutes to get signal.
 I agree it could be performance bug, but please think about it from user's
 expectation.

Comment(by Sascha):

 I had the same problem with a "SanDisk® Mobile Ultra™ microSDHC™ 8GB Card"
 - only the "Serial number" and the "Manufacturing date" strings differ.
 First I partitioned/formated the card with GNU Parted and I could not boot
 from it.
 Then with fdisk and mkfs.ext2 and I can boot debian without problems now.

 This is a nice one.

 The small letters clock on the top right corner is stuck at 12:18 while
 Settings => Clock shows the right time.
