#1928: Settings don't change the suspend time
-------------------------+--------------------------------------------------
Reporter: wilk | Owner: marek
Type: defect | Status: accepted
Priority: normal | Milestone: Om2008.9
Component: Settings | Version:
Severity: blocker | Resolution:

Comment(by wilk):
To summarize : there is at the moment no way to suspend the Freerunner
from either the POW button or using the "Suspend Time" from Settings.
However, the "blank time" and "suspend after blank" from the Power setting
of "the wrench" (from the illume-config package) are valid. So
* if you want your Freerunner to suspend after 60s, set for example the
blank time to 60s ant the suspend after blank to 1s.
* if you don't want it to suspend at all (when plugged via usb), set the
blank time to off.
Note that when you wake the phone, with the POW button, you'll have to tap
the screen to get the screen back on since it wakes blank : something else
that should be corrected.
I also noticed that since upgrading to OM2008.9 testing, it takes longer
than before to wake up, something around 15". I timed it by putting the
phone to sleep through apm -s (this way it doesn't wake up blank) or, if
it wakes up blank by waiting for the sound of the speaker coming back on.

Comment(by marek):
Correct - blank as in black. We did not find the famous WSOD. ;-)
Here some test results:
cat /sys/class/backlight/pcf50633-bl/brightness
63
The "echo 63 ..." does no change anything, of course.
But if you touch the screen after you woke the neo up it resumes fully. I
guess we have a screensaver running that shows a black field.

Comment(by erin_yueh):
why pin-dialog must show up before the home screen? this behavior is for
normal mobile phones. But NEO is a mobile device, it's not just with a GSM
modem. It has other functions, like WiFi, bluetooth, GPS, .....etc. PIN
code is only for GSM network! We need to run normal boot-up procedures.
Even you cannot use GSM network, we are still able to run other
applications.

I configured my /etc/ppp/peers/provider with '''persist''' and '''holdoff
20''' options, but it seems that the connection does not restart once
failed.
The pppd process is running and idle on a select() call, but it does not
execute the '''connect''' chatscript again.

#1818: SMS doesn't send when network coverage restores

Comment(by erin_yueh):
Sorry! we don't have this feature now. SMS resending mechanism is based on
GSM network, not from mobile phone. When we send a SMS to our network
provider, it comes with a valid time. When the receiver get this SMS, it
would return an ACK to network. If the network doesnt get this ACK, it
will keep sending this SMS during this valid time. If you are interested
in SMS sending, you can read 3GPP TS23.040 spec.
