 This can also be reproduced by switching to one landscape mode, and then
 to the inverted landscape mode.

#1961: Distortion when switching to/from landscape mode

 == Issue ==
 When switching from landscape to portrait, or from portrait to landscape,
 the screen temporarily shows a distorted image. Chances are the
 orientation swap happens slightly before/after the change to the video
 buffer. (Portrait to inverted portrait, or landscape to inverted
 landscape does not have the same problem)

 Perhaps the screen should be blacked out (or some other uniform color) or
 the backlight should be temporarily shut off during the orientation swap.

 == Reproducing ==
 1) Install the accelerometer gestures and screen orientation software as
 instructed here: http://wiki.openmoko.org/wiki/Gestures Or use the xrandr
 command to change screen orientation manually.
 2) Rotate the orientation of the display.

 == Software ==
 * Latest update from unstable feed
 * opkg list_installed attached

 For example qtopia-phone-x11 in asu.stable is r39.1, but it's 38.05 in
 om.dev and asu.dev. If people switch from asu.stable to testing repo,
 these packages won't be updated.

 We should compare the output of "opkg list" in both repo, pick those in
 stable that are higher then testing and fix them.

Comment:

 This issue should be solved after assassin svn 233.

 This issues is because assassin didn't distinguish different error type.
 However, packagekitd shall not send out error message here.

 However, I think it's a dirty hack. The root cause is packagekitd shall
 not send error message to assassin.
 I am going to push some code back to packagekit upstream, at that mean
 while I will solve the root cause.

 leave a FIXME in Assassin, to remind I myself remove the dirty hack.

Comment:

 I removed the entry from the menu. (commit
 a55919651c04dee5dad57cfa42aa8823eddc41b1)

 I just commented out the part of the code that actually put the entry into
 the menu, so if we want it back in the future it is very simple.

Comment(by erin_yueh):

 hi Holger,
 i made a patch to avoid keep retrieving SMS list if it's empty. please
 check attached file. thanks! if we keep sending 'AT+CMGL=4' (but no SIM
 SMS) too many times, it would probably make modem go crazy. Then it cannot
 register to the network normally.
