I'm using official Om2008.9 Update:
Om2008.9-gta02-20080916.rootfs.jffs2
Om2008.9-gta02-20080916.uImage.bin
1. Phone is suspended.
2. Recieve text message. Phone wakes up.
3. Do not touch screen or buttons.
4. Phone does not suspend again (only turns off screen). It should.
You have to touch the screen before it suspends normally.

When I shutdown FreeRunner in Om2008.8/9 (by holding POWER button), and
let unplugged FreeRunner overnight, in the morning the battery is
completely empty. Using kernel from release version of Om2008.x
I wonder if I am the only one experiencing this issue as i was not able to
find any information about this problem.

Comment(by werner):
Holding POWER until the system turns off is an emergency shutdown that
kills
power to the CPU and most peripherals but that almost certainly leaves GSM
active. So I wouldn't be surprised if this can be bad for the battery ...

Comment(by ohin):
No, I meant standard switch off: holding POWER button until "Shutting
down..." window appears. Anyway, tonight I've tried the same procedure but
with fresh new uboot and this morning everything was okay. Very probably I
have recently flashed some bugy version, which was causing this issue?
