This problem certainly does hurt apache among a certain group of users. But it is also fairly clear that the problem is one in ZoneAlarm and not one in Apache. You are also correct about the way to get the problem fixed: convince ZoneAlarm that is important. I strongly encourage you to have a go at this yourself. You, and other members of the Apache user community, should contact ZoneAlarm and try to convince them that this problem is important enough to be fixed. Apache is a volunteer organisation, so things get done only when individuals take them on and do them. [As far as the status of this bug, the fact that it is closed does not mean that it is not important. It just means that it does not identify a problem in the Apache source code.
