The worker MPM (and threaded MPMs in general) are not supported on FreeBSD.
In fact, screwy signal behavior has been seen on FreeBSD with a non-threaded
MPM (prefork) but thread-enabled APR.

When the next generation of threading is available for FreeBSD (5.0?), there
will be a renewed emphasis on testing thread-capable APR and threaded MPMs
on FreeBSD.

This is a frustrating situation. A number of us have tried and failed to get
threaded MPMs working reliably on FreeBSD.

OTOH, the prefork MPM and non-thread-capable APR have been extensively tested
on FreeBSD.
