http://nagoya.apache.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=19086 chroot, /bin/sh and rotatelogs Summary: chroot, /bin/sh and rotatelogs Product: Apache httpd-1.3 Version: 1.3.27 Platform: Alpha OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Minor Priority: Other Component: mod_log_config AssignedTo: [email protected] ReportedBy: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Apache 1.3.27, Digital Unix 4.0 (aka OSF1). Problem running httpd in chroot environment and using "|rotatelogs ..." piped log files. httpd is exec-ing "/bin/sh -c rotatelog ...", which means there'd better be a /bin/sh in the chroot jail, something I'd rather not have :) I assume it's doing this so that shell type things work as expected. A workaround is to use a dummy wrapper /bin/sh (30 lines of C) to parse and split the command line parameters, and invoke an execv(). Or use syslog. Or rotate manually. See src/main/http_log.c .
