No core dump produced. As I understand, truss (see below) shows that the process uses a file (25, in the example below) handle to communicate with the back-end server but does not check whether it is still usable or not. This file handle seems to be used from the connection pool ("As of Apache 2.1, the ability to use pooled connections to a backend server is available").
