+++ This bug was initially created as a clone of Bug #43792 +++
mod_ldap as implemented supports only simple LDAP authentication [through a
call to ldap_simple_bind_s()].
LDAP clients expected to bind to the server using SASL are not supported by
mod_ldap as written.
