To my understanding PIPE_BUF is not the size of the pipe buffer but just the
size to be guaranteed to be atomic. The POSIX-defined value is 512, an Linux
lift this to 4k.

But the usual pipe buffer size is bigger, the default on Linux seems to be 64k
(16 pages) and is configurable.


My test case request are about 8k. By a compare to the access log (piped to
rotatelog2, too, but undamaged!), it seems to me that different workers just
have put a whole bunch of individual log lines into the buffer. That is close
to the edge of the abyss and in the next moments, at least one worker can't
write it's logline in entirety.
