So what's in your config file?  My bet is that you're forcing Xorg to
use the vesa(4) driver there.  That doesn't quite work anymore now
that we have KMS.  If this was the only reason you created an
xorg.conf, delete it.  Otherwise remove that the lines that configure
the vesa(4) driver.  The radeon(4) driver should work with your
hardware now.
