which contains this error:

/etc/netstart: sed: not found

/etc/netstart uses sed in one place: on encountering a "!command"
line in a hostname.if file. This won't work if sed isn't available.

This way of parsing lines has been present for nearly 5 years, so nobody
else seems to be using this in a diskless environment. I suspect you
will need to find a different solution for said command line.
