My system panic'd on December 23, 2025. OpenBSD 7.8 It occured when I was using scp to copy large files across the internet. The speed of the transfer was less than 70 (seventy) Megabits per second.
The scp command was initiated from another server, on the internet. The direction of scp transfer was from the problem computer to the other system on the internet. There were about 500 files to transfer, maybe more. The total size of the intended transfer was about 80 gigabytes. It got about 1/4th of the way through the transfer when the panic happened. At least two parallel scp sessions were used to transfer the files. At one point, while preparing the files for scp'ing, the file system filled completely. You'll see this in the ddb dmesg output, below. That situation was fixed (just deleted some files). After that, the scp sessions commenced. The system was upgraded from 7.5 to 7.6 on April 25, 2024. Then to 7.7 on Dec 2, 2025. Then to 7.8 on Dec 9, 2025. The upgrades were uneventful and were successful. It had been running continuously since the 7.8 upgrade until the large file transfers on Dec 23, 2025. The system since its April 25, 2024 inception had been up 24x7 with very light loads.
