I think the first step is raising an issue so a discussion can occur and if 
there is a sign-off this procedure happens. I would also add the interface may 
be held for more than a single release.

Placing a comment in a header file is not grounds for deprecation. I would 
approve an MR to remove the comments.

There are few places in `cpukit` with `@deprecated`. I added some to 
`version.h` because the interfaces added where not fit for purpose and are not 
documented as APIs.
