We decided a long time ago to move away from GCC `spec` files because of they 
added complexity in the build by adding flags we determines were no needed. The 
`-B` option lets you do things we did not want to see happen. I cannot remember 
the reason for `-B` on the link command line. It could be related to the linker 
command files we have.
