Yes, I wish to solve this problem, I tried, and it was basically the way Debian and AIX used [1]. But David Holmes wishes a POSIX version, that patch failed to be pushed. I think I will go on to work on it, however I do not have Solaris and macOS for test, I am working on preparing these OSs.
