Hi Mike

If you look at the addenda to the 837 you will find your answer.  The 837
allows for NDC to be sent in an LIN segment (p 35 of addenda to 837I) as
secondary info -  versus the actual code (HCPCS) used in the SV2 segment.
Both the SV2 and LIN segments in the addenda explain this.
NDC usage in NCPDP has not changed per these NPRM's

Thanks for the info, Question:
Does this mean that for non-pharmacy transactions that NDC codes can not be
used or that they are just not the mandated code set. Will a payer still
have to except them if submitted or can the transaction be rejected for not
having  j-codes. We have been waiting on this to determine what type of
canges we need to make in our processing systems. Any opinion?
