Hal,

In regards to your comments about state laws the US Supreme Court early
this year did overrule the powers of the federal government in a case
involving the state of SC.  I would not try to predict the outcome of
any litigation that is inevitable from HIPAA.

I've read the last few responses in this thread with a mixture of
amusement and frustration. The parts about doing "what makes sense," and
taking "logical action" are right on. Unfortunately, because we have
gotten the federal government (further) involved in our business, logic
and sense are no longer part of the equation.
