Unix Lead Admin Arlington Heights, IL 6+ Months Contract Has technical expertise in a defined area and can handle problems/tickets - complex in nature. Serves as escalation point for all issues within a group (infrastructure support/network) in a project. Responsible for maintenance and administration, enhancements, following change management policies, report capacity and availability, updation of the ticketing system and KEDB. Is expected to train and mentor junior administrators. Maintains a roster for shift management (if applicable). Is expected to participate in weekly operational meetings, change management meetings. Expected to lead the team from transition to delivery and also work with Project manager for Infrastructure projects and SI work. Should engage in Continuous Improvement Projects or SIPs to improve productivity and SLAs. In Package Implementation space: The incumbent leads and manage complex DBA projects, has expertise in new technologies, developments, database and application upgrades. Mentors and groom DBAs. Should have a strong expertize on Storage Area Network (SAN), NAS. SAN Experience of understanding SAN switches. Great hands on experience of Logical Units (LUN). Should be familiar with Vendor specific redundant & business continuity technologies such as Business Copy (BC), Continuous access (CA),Information Lifecycle Management (ILM), SRDF etc. Should Have experience in installing & configuring Backups, Backup agents using tape libraries Knowledge. Great understanding on managing zones, Fiber Channel (FC) technologies. Working knowledge of Backup technologies such as IBM TSM, HP Data Protector, Veritas Net backup etc ~ Concepts, Design, review, implement and management of High Availability Systems& Software, Mission Critical System design Techniques, High Availability , Fault, Error, Failure, Single Points of Failure, Business continuity, DR. Expertize platform specific vendor products such as Veritas Cluster Server(VCS), Sun Cluster, MCSG, HACMP, RHCS etc. ~ Good hands on experience with UNIX Virtualization technologies such as nPar, vpar, IVM, Zones, Containers, ZFS, VMWARE, RHEV, vio, LPAR,HMC etc. Design, implement, review, maintenance and performance review of UNIX Virtualization environment. ~ Analysis and tuning system performance of parameters like DISK, Network, CPU, Mem Good working knowledge of inbuilt utilities such as iostat, vmstat, sarand vendor/third party tools.
