• The Database Administrator will provide leadership and subject matter
expertise in the design, implementation, and operations for database
technologies in support of business applications.
• The candidate will analyze and model data requirements, application and
processing architectures, data dictionaries, and database schema(s), and
then design, develop, amend, optimize, and certify database schema design
to meet system(s) requirements.
• This role requires interaction with a cross-functional team of technology
and business professionals including infrastructure, application
development, business partners, and 3rd party subject matter experts to
ensure that solutions are planned, developed, deployed, and maintained in
accordance with criminal justice security and business requirements and
business service level agreements.
• The candidate must understand system, database and integration
technologies and have demonstrated experience delivering 24/7/365
availability and incident response for mission critical applications.
• This individual must have a passion to serve and a strong desire to work
with application and integration teams on challenging projects while
providing rapid and thorough support for production issues.
*Description::*
• Maintains a complex database system, and is responsible for the
development, maintenance, and integrity of the physical data structure, and
the efficiency and performance of the system.
• Responsible for installation of database software, design of physical
database layout, and creation and configuration of new databases.
*Duties::*
• Design and maintain complex database platform
• RDBMS installation and installation, upgrade, and patching
• Set up routine backup procedures and disaster recovery procedures
• Perform and test database recoveries
• Perform performance monitoring and tuning
• Review and implement new database options
• Shell and Power Shell scripting and support.
• Support the Production database environment of both Oracle and SQL Server
in a 24/7, on-call capacity as needed.
• Work closely with Application Development and Project staff to provide
technical expertise, performance tuning of systems and applications, and
overall database support.
• Determine appropriate database system architecture and system
requirements for Hardware and Software to support highly available,
serviceable and reliable database systems and repositories.
• Make recommendations to management on need for new architecture, servers,
system upgrades and software upgrades to ensure performance and reliability
of database systems.
• Must be relied upon to make critical decisions regarding production
system availability in event of outage and determine appropriate recovery
methods.
• Complete knowledge of Oracle Applications Environment Files, Server
Process Scripts, and Languages and Oracle Applications File System
configuration. Use of autoconfig and rconfig utilities.
• Knowledge of the Oracle Applications License Manager and configuration
utilities.
• Ability to Cloning Oracle Applications environment in support of
development and implementation activities.
• Develop and support security, backup and patch strategies for all
databases.
• Strong understanding of Oracle Database technologies and methodologies is
required in order to support the database environment.
• Document Databases. Database Operations, and Database designs
• Use third party tools to design, implement, and maintain database schemas
as well as monitor system performance and characteristics.
• Be able to manage multiple projects and tasks effectively and completely
with pro-active communications, formal project plans, and meticulous
documentation.
• Provide on-call DBA support as required. Position requires occasional
off-hours and weekend support for project and maintenance activities.
*Qualifications::*
• Minimum 6 years’ experience building and supporting Oracle and SQL Server
in a large organization
• Strong experience in 10g, 11g, 12C including strong experience in ASM,
Oracle RAC and RAC 1-Node, Data Guard, GoldenGate, GRID Control, RMAN,
Partitioning, and Performance Tuning
• Strong experience installing, configuring and supporting Oracle
Enterprise Manager 12c; specifically Oracle Real Application Testing Tool,
including experiencing utilizing database replay, configuring and using
Oracle Test Data Management, specifically test data masking; Oracle
Lifecycle Manager, specifically using the tool to provision, patch, upgrade
and manage compliance.
• Strong experience in SQL Server 2005, 2008, 2012, including experience in
installation, upgrade/patching, high availability solutions, and
performance monitoring and tuning.
• DB Troubleshooting and performance improvement skills
• Experience in Linux, Unix, and Windows Operating system
• Strong experience in SQL, and Shell and Power Shell scripting
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• University degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
