*JOB DESCRIPTION *
- The Sr. Portal Developer will act as portal design and development
resource for creating Flex and JSR168 portlets on the Vignette
Portalplatform, implementing solutions involving the ratings business
sites,
focusing on application design and code integration work across other shared
service components.
*JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: *
- Dual reporting line to the Leads of Ratings Gateway for C&G and SF in the
capacity as a senior designer and developer for the portal platform in
support of projects, new development and maintenance efforts;
- Work closely and collaborate with business analysts and UX Team to clarify
and implement against requirements and specifications;
- Collaborate, create, and submit detailed systems and coding design and map
specifications for code development;
- Perform code analysis and work with UX Team, architects and other
developers to come up with the best balance of functionality vs. code
quality vs. performance vs. delivery timing vs. work effort;
- Support an existing portal production environment, working with the
portalOperations team to troubleshoot application level bugs,
deployment,
configuration, and code change management;
- Work in a multi-team environment balancing the support of the technical
team and representing all aspects of technical implementation;
- Perform application development based integration and technology solutions
and tasks, providing up to date documentation of technical specs;
- Partner and work closely with the portal leads and architects to provide
and implement best practices across projects;
- Partner with the portal Operations Team to help drive operational
readiness and excellence to improve the portal platform reliability,
availability, scalability and performance (RASP);
- Work with portal leads and act as a mentor as needed for other developers,
providing technical guidance and support to less experienced team members
- Able to quickly integrate with culturally diverse work groups
*REQUIRED SKILLS: *
- Minimum 7 years of experience in software development and system
integration area;
- At least 5 years of strong hands on production development experience in
Java/J2EE environment including *JSP, Servlet and EJB*;
- At least 2 years of strong hands on production development experience
using *MXML and ActionScript 3 using the Flex Builder* environment;
- Suitable candidate should also have a strong understanding and practical
application of *MVC through the Spring Framework*, and other *J2EE design
patterns*;
- Working knowledge of Cairngorm and/or other MVC framework for Flex
- At least 5 years of production experience in the design and development of
information systems on portal-based projects using portal technology;
- Programming experience: Essential: *Java/J2EE, JSR 168, Adobe Flex, Spring
framework, Web Services, AJAX/JavaScript (Dojo with DWR), ExtJS*
- Application Architecture experience, Database Stored Procedures, *XML,
HTML, DHTML*);
- Tools: *Eclipse*, profiling, code/platform optimization and fine tuning
server side integration knowledge; *Maven, Ant*
- *RDBMS: Oracle DBMS; operating system: Solaris 8, 10*
- Software analysis, design and development on enterprise level multi-tiered
portal applications in a shared service engagement model;
- Strong track record of translating technical specifications into quality
design and code, with a balance between conceptual and technical
architecture skills;
- Self-starter who is organized, works with minimal supervision, and is a
team player;
- Excellent team work and must have high level of communication and
articulation skills, including strong interpersonal skills and the ability
to work closely with other developers in a coaching or mentoring
relationship;
- Demonstrated leadership skills;
- Strong analytical skills;
- Solid written communication skills;
- Excellent verbal communication skills;
- Ability to drive, multi-task and prioritize;
- Ability to manage expectations;
- Disciplined approach to defining and understanding technical
specifications and creativity to come up with one if lacking thereof;
- Work on financial services development and integration projects;
Ideal Candidate will also have the following desired skills:
- Vignette Portal-based portal platform product knowledge and experience
highly preferred;
- Microsoft Sharepoint development and integration with J2EE portals
background is highly desirable;
- An understanding of Object oriented design, database design, UML, HTML is
preferred;
- Some background in implementing document and content management systems a
big plus, preferably based on Documentum;
- Search integration experience using Autonomy strongly preferred.
- A working knowledge of ExtJS
- The ability to use the MVC pattern for developing XML/ActionScript 3 Flex
applications
