*6 mo Applications Systems Analyst/Programmer – Intermediate (SAO)*
The Test Development and Assessment Technologies Department within IT/ETS
needs to fill a 6 month Application Programmer Intermediate position. The
candidate with the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities will need to
start as soon as possible.* *
*Work Summary* *The candidate filling this Application Programmer
Intermediate position will be responsible for enhancing, testing and
verifying the VB6/VB.Net application, maintaining and adding items to
existing programs, and general maintenance of existing programs and
reports. Work will be done using VBA scripts and MS SQL query language.
Also responsible for working with Editorial and the Art Dept. to import
items into item bank; prepare necessary reports for client reviews, and
troubleshooting any item bank issues. Candidate also needs to be familiar
with XML, QTI experience is a plus.*
Candidate will have to follow IT’s newly rolled out SDLC process and will be
accountable for producing artifacts required by SDLC process. Experience wit
*ner **Responsibilities: ** *
· Importing items from Word templates using VBA scripts
· Maintaining item meta data in MS SQL Server data base
· Preparing reports of items for Client reviews
· Exporting data to other applications for client use
· Executing multiple priorities at the same time
· Possible conversion of Word items to XML objects
· Documentation of all work done using Power Designer
*Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities *
*Experience:* The ideal candidate must be an outstanding technical expert,
and have at least 3 years of programming experience with a minimum of 1 year
experience with databases and SQL. Experience in large database
applications is preferred. Knowledge of educational assessments and item
banking is a plus, *Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:*
· *VB 6.0, VB.NET *
· VBA
· WORD Automation
· SQL, ORACLE 9i and above
· *Familiarity with XML*
· Experience in reading object oriented application code developed
using Java/J2EE technologies and familiarity with pure J2EE and Java
technologies is a plus.
· Excellent communication skills in order to interact with clients,
technical staff, and third parties.
· Windows OS, UNIX/LINUX* *
*Education*
A Bachelors degree with extensive coursework in Computer Science or an
equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable
knowledge and abilities can be acquired is necessary.* *
