We had a candidate back out and need someone as soon as possible. Please let me know if you have any Unix/Solaris Engineers who would be interested/open to an opportunity in Atlanta. Position: Unix/Solaris Engineers Location: Atlanta, GA Duration: 8 months + Communication: Must be great Citizenship: US, EAD, GC, H1B Phone interview first, then MUST be able to come into Atlanta for a personal interview - Minimum 10 years experience Solaris/Linux in a production/development environment - x86 experience - 2 years VmWare experience (install, upgrades, configs) - Configuring network interfaces, RAID configurations - IP networking (IPv4 experience necessary, IPv6 experience preferred) - Writing perl/korn/shell scripts and deployment tools Linux Kickstart or Solaris Jumpstart - Creating, administering and modifying Solaris packages and software configuration specifications - Using an SCM system such as Clear Case, CM Synergy, CVS, Subversion, SVN or any other product suitable for use in a production environment - Heavy documentation! Day-to-Day: The platform engineers objective is to create a clean and highly automated installation that fits on a single-sided DVD. The installation scripts must confirm that the hardware matches a list of supported hardware configurations. The platform engineer designs the scripts included with the DVD that the customer will use to back-up the server and to restore the server. The platform engineer maintains the Solaris installation packages used to install applications in a Solaris environment. Package maintenance and package update requires close work with the software developers In addition, install, config, VMware and 3rd party software components. Develop deployment scripts, troubleshoot install issues. Provide platform support to development teams and primary focus for this position is VMware.
