Position : SQL Server Database Administrator

Location: Charleston, WV

Duration: 2 years C2C All inclusive 

The DBA will provide services under general supervision for multiple projects 
by following WVOT's project methodology, which is based on Project Management 
Institute, Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK).  A few of the projects 
that the contractor will be working on are:

·Volunteer WV - This system was written for West Virginia Commission for 
National and Community Service.  This system allows organizations to post 
volunteer opportunities and individuals to track the amount of hours and cost 
incurred while volunteering for those opportunities.   

·Time Matters - This system is used in 23 Public Defender offices in 23 
different counties as a case management, calendaring, document storage, word 
processing and time-keeping tool.  Data from Time Matters is used for annual 
reports to the WV Legislature.

·Registered Nurses Licensing Application - This system track the license 
information for registered nurses for the State of West Virginia.  This system 
includes a client server application to all the Board of Nurses to enter and 
maintain the license information along with other web applications that allow 
the nurses to renew their license.

·Surplus Property Inventory Application - Surplus Property has an inventory of 
items that is sold to the general public and state agencies.  This application 
will allow Surplus property to inventory the items, track the sale of the 
items, and create invoices.

·OIS Application - WVOT Development team involved in Data Conversion, Reports, 
Workflows, Dialogs, Mail Merges, Dashboards, and Views of the application. 
Reports will be SSRS, Report Wizard, Advanced Find, Views, Export to Excel, 
Dynamic Pivot Tables, Mail Merges, Charts or Dashboards.

 

PROJECT RESPONSIBILITIES

·Modify/Create/Maintain  Stored Procedures

·Modify/Create SQL Statements

·Create/Modify Tables

·Determine logic from existing SQL Statements

·Assess and implement database tuning processes

·Lead the Workflow Update Processes 

·Data management and data problem resolution

·Other project support primarily related to data and data infrastructure

·Provide daily status updates  on assigned tasks

·Address issues and change requests according to the project management 
methodology

·Some work will be performed outside of normal business work hours

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

·Minimum of 3 current years DBA experience (only SQL Server and Oracle DBA 
experience will be considered acceptable)  

·Minimum: Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited college or university

·Preference will be given to candidates with an industry standard certification

                

Specific work experience (projects, types of work performed)

·Database / metadata analysis and design

·Writing and debugging complex SQL

·Tuning poor performing SQL 

·Backup and Recovery of application databases

·Writing and debugging Stored Procedures

·Writing and debugging user defined functions

·Writing and debugging views

·Develop and debug IIS packages

·Experience with working databases used for web applications 

·Experience with converting Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Access, text files and 
other formats into a SQL Server database

·Experience creating and maintaining tables, indexes, constraints, and triggers

·Experience with using Microsoft Visio to document databases   (preferred)

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS 

·Extensive knowledge of SQL Server 2000, 2005, 2008, 2008 R2

·Extensive knowledge of SLQ and TSQL

·Experience with Enterprise Manager

·Experience with Query Analyzer

·Experience with DTS package designer

·Experience with SQL Server Management Studio

·Experience with SQL Server Integration Services

·Experience with SQL Reporting Server

·Exposure to Microsoft Visio to document databases 

·Experience Creating and Maintaining Tables, Indexes, Constraints, and Triggers

·Experience with SQL Profiler

·Experience with designing, developing, and implementing database applications

·Willingness to work under current DBA's direction

·Exposure to Microsoft Visio to document databases 

·Ability to translate complex technical information into easily understandable 
language/documentation

·Ability to review systems analysis documents and create a logical and physical 
database design

·Ability to work in a team environment.  This position requires the DBA to work 
closely and support peer-DBAs, systems analysts, and application developers in 
order to design and develop the most efficient databases possible for the 
organization.

·Any candidate must show a willingness to accept a variety of assignments 
(including analysis and maintenance) with equal enthusiasm.

·Preference will be given to anyone with experience in supporting the databases 
for Time Matters and/or Primavera P6 Enterprise Portfolio Management systems
