If this patch eliminates duplicates which directly follow upon each
other in the history, I welcome it very much, because the usual
behaviour is quite annoying. If it eliminates duplicates in the whole
history (like the UNIX command 'uniq'), this might not be desired, but
without having applied the patch I just assume you implemented variant
#1 and say it is a great thing to have.
