But my question was about replacing udev with mdev on an ordinary PC, not on a low-power embedded device. Also, /bin/busybox is present on Gentoo linux by default, so it's not really extra code. And if we could remove udev code, it would actually slightly reduce the amount of crud on the system. If devtmpfs is a better solution, and can handle USB keys/etc, I'd consider it too. The object is to replace udev code. Is there a FAQ/tutorial/manual somewhere on how mdev and devtempfs operate, that I can read, to get to the point where I can ask intelligent questions? I think the best experimental approach would be set up devtempfs and/or mdev in a chrooted environment first. Once I gat that working, then I can try to boot a standalone system. -- Walter Dnes <[email protected]> _______________________________________________ busybox mailing list [email protected] http://lists.busybox.net/mailman/listinfo/busybox
