Hi everyone, As a part of my MSc project, i need to take transects to determine butterfly diversity and density in 4 different regions of Pune city. I've chosen the following areas: 1.Karve road from Garware college-Prabhat road- Bhandarkar Road 2.Fergusson college hill 3.Yerawada-Bund garden area 4.Wanawadi-NIBM road-Undri area
I have some very basic queries, and would be grateful if someone could help me out with the same: 1. For butterfly diversity, will a time based transect be appropriate/ should i take a line/belt transect? 2.What should be the minimum size of the transect line? 3.is it right that i need to cover atleast 2% of the area? 4.How many transects will be required? 5.Butterfly variation over seasons should be taken care of and so I've decided to take transects in this monsoon (october), winter (dec- jan) and then in early summer (april).
