Subject: Butterfly Migration Update from South India

Dear All,

This time the migration of Tirumala septentrionis and Euploea spp. was first
seen in the mid of September but it stopped after 2-3 days. Later it started in
full swing in the first week of October and they continue to migrate towards
western ghats till 30th of October. Huge number of butterflies have been seen
migrating at Salem, Mysore, Bangalore , SatyamangaLam, B R Hills, etc.

Later during our visit to Western Ghats, large number of females of Tirumala
septentrionis were seen laying eggs on Wattakaka volubilis. Each leaf had 1-2
eggs and the creepers in the forest were full of eggs.

At few sholas in Karnataka, huge congregations of Tigers and Crows have been
sighted by my good old friend Adavanne Shivaprakash.

If any of you happen to be in Western Ghats or going to western ghats, just
keep an eye on Wattakaka volubilis. And please do let me know if you see huge
congregations of Tiger and Crow butterflies or the caterpillars.

Do mail me if you require anything specific on this migration.

Thanks and Regards,
Kishen Das
