Dear Blaise,
Yes these books are costly but affordable.
Other book that I use regularly is The Butterflies of Pakistan by Roberts
published by Oxford. Very good ref book for Western India and North west Indian
species.
Regards.

Subject: [ButterflyIndia] Books on butterflies...what are u reading???

Hi all,

During the last couple of months the butterflies hv given me much pleasure.

Been out on various trails, alone and in the company of others, enjoying the
butterflies, and also other flora n fauna.

Hv noted that quite a few people hv the notion that certain books on butterfly
id are good - "but" very expensive. I hv sometimes made it a point to explain
to them that these are not common text books purchased by a large amount of
people, and like any technical book are bound to be a little more pricey
depending on the quality of paper used, amount of coloured pics, extent to
which the topics are covered, etc.......

Have had the pleasure of running through Blyth's (Butterflies of the Indian
region), KK's (Butterflies of Peninsular India) and Isaac's (The book of Indian
butterflies) books and would recommend them. Are there any other books that
you have read on this topic and would recommend??? ????

On a lighter note, I am not related to Blyth, KK or Isaac, nor is anyone in my
family owning oil fields in Alaska or Saudi Arabia :-)......

Blaise
