Hi all,
This gorgeous Death's Head Hawk Moth -Acherontia styx was found at night in a
residence, attracted by light. It is a full size specimen. It is common in this
area.
I do have few doubts would appreciate if they could be addressed:
1 what does it do at night near light in buildings. It simply sits, and in the
morning it flies away. So why does it come into buildings at night and why is
it attracted by light? What does it feed on? Internet sources say that it
raids bee hives. If so, when does it do that-day or night? And how does it
manage not to destroy the hive-as it would be breaking up the hive given its
large size.

2 What is its range in India?  and what is its habitat?

3 Are there any supersitions or folklore about it?

Thanks
Enjoy the photo
