Dear Vijay and all other friends Apart from building database one more thing we can do as a group is work of conservation in some important hot spots like Western Ghats and North East India
Mining in these hotspots is major threat to diversity of butterflies as well as for other wildlife. I dont know how we are going to do this but we should think over it some time in the future other wise in the few years we will have to watch this beautifull jewels of Forests in the photographs only. Apart from Butterflies i request you to support 'Ranwata' in Satara for protecting Kaas which is famous for its flowers. Goverment of Maharashtra wants to develop this plateau as a tourist spot which includes building hotels and other infrastructure facilities for tourists. This is ultimately going to destroy the place which is home to some of the most endemic and very rare plants. I request all the members not to publish any photos on Kaas because more u publish them most people want to visit the place. And 90% of them are not aware of what they are doing. I have observed people playing football cricket on kaas plateau. I am not mentioning loss caused by throwing plastic and other garbage there. More we publishing the pics on social sites more harm we are doing to nature. I was publishing the photos in the past unaware of these facts. But last week some people from my area went to Kaas after watching photos on my Facebok and Orkut profile. They told me they enjoy running there and other things. that has told me truth about harm we are doing unintentionally to the nature.
