I agree with you kishen that we must ignore its appearance. But i would like to share that Yamuna Biodiversity Park is managed by us (a team of scientists) and as per our record we have not introduced any such plant from Himalayas here in this whole park.
In fact this year whole park was flooded with water in September for 15 days, which caused casualty to many plants in Butterfly conservatory also. My intention for this posting about notifying this butterfly's presence in Delhi is to know that whether anybody says that yes they have spotted it in Amritsar, Chandigarh, Merrut, Aligarh, Lucknow, Patna and Kolkata. These cities are almost on equi-distance from the Himalayan terai's geographical limit. I will request again to group members to share if they have any such record. Unless we see a sizeable community in Delhi, we should simply ignore such stray sightings. Thank you for the information. Today on 30th November 2010, I spotted a himalayan butterfly, Indian Tortoise Shell (Aglais cashmiriensis) in Yamuna Biodiversity Park's Butterfly conservatory. Photo attached. Literature says that it is found from kashmir to Sikkim from terai upto 5360 m. I am amazed to see it here in Delhi. Can anyone share their observations on this butterfly and what are the host plants?
