Pupa moved from branch to the lid of the container ?

I think it was caterpillar, ready to form the pupa, when you moved it to the
container.
Later it crawled to the lid and formed the pupa.

During pupation, no way a pupa can move !!!
Probably you can take more photos next time or if you already have these
pics, please share.

    Hi All,

Have noticed that the larva of Red Pierrot is capable of moment…. I am not
referring to the wriggling motion some pupae display when disturbed but –
actual motion.... they are capable of changing their position…. (off-course
there would be a time period for which this is possible)…

I had noticed two fresh larvae, one was on a black pot while the other was
nicely camouflaged on the bark of one of my bonsai plants… I was just thinking
that the one on the black pot will be OK in a few days once it darkens up a
bit…. After a couple of hours when I checked on them I was surprised to find
the one on the bark had disappeared….. at the time I thought that it was taken
by some predator…

I took a branch having two pupae and placed them in a closed container…
next morming I noticed that one pupa had shifted to the lid of the container…..
