Hi
I think it is a Painted Jezebel. There is photo on Wikipedia
(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Delias_hyparete), but it doesn't match the one
sent. I found a photo that matches in The Book of Indian Butterflies by Isaac
Kehimkar on page 187.

Regards
Toshita

Subject: [ButterflyIndia] Painted Jezebel?

Dear all,

Is it Painted Jezebel or a variation from common Jezebel
Taken at Maredumalli (Eastern Ghats), AP., on 20-12-10 morning 10am.

In this area, during this time I observed that the activity of butterflies(even
grass yellows) is not starting till 9 to 10 in the morning.
The atmosphere is foggy, temperature is around 12 degrees C, but with clear sky
and sun is coming out by 7AM. Of course the overall activity is itself less.
