i will always say suddenly because in a normal course , a pupa must gradually 
transform into a butterfly in matter of few days but when it was not showing 
any 
changes like showing of some filling inside during transformation, i will say 
it 
was kind of hibernating and then not one but all 4 of the pupae in a wk time 
transformed totally and butterflies ecclosed out. hence i said suddenly as if 
some ext influence [which we dont know] might have triggered it ..milind
