Dept of Zoology is always engaged in activities that promote the creative 
potential zeal, spirit of inquest, awareness about nature a recent addition to 
such activities. 

Objective: 


Butterflies, the winged jewels of mother “Nature” are interesting not only for 
their aesthetic appeal. Being extremely excellent ecology indicators. By 
pollination they enhance the productivity. Their scaly wings have inspired 
researchers in the field of Nanotechnology and aircraft designing. Parse and 
poetry about nature is never be complete without butterflies. They from a vital 
link in the web of life. More than all watching butterflies itself can be a 
rewarding experience. 


India boasts of more than 1500 species of these coloured angels, while 
Karnataka has 318 species representing all the five major families. However a 
foolproof scientific documentation of butterflies is still not done. This is 
essential for appreciating the role of butterflies in nature and devising 
conservation strategies in future. 


The proposed seminar provides a form for the experts and amateurs in the field 
of Lepidopterology to come together, share their experience and expertise to 
move towards a common goal, that is welfare of these wonderful creatures. 



Call for Papers 
Participants are invited to send papers for oral presentation. Kindly submit an

Participants will have to send a softcopy of the text of their paper, if
