He had written many influential papers on the subject. He spent a year at Harvard as a Hrdy Fellow in Conservation Biology a couple of years ago, where we interacted regularly. He was interested in Indian butterflies and, had the Indian bureaucracy been kind to him, he would have contributed a lot to butterfly conservation and nature preservation in India. This is a great loss for the nature conservation community.
