Dr. Krushnamegh Kunte (Harvard) has completed his research project on the Papilio glaucus/canadensis/appalachiensis species group and his paper has been accepted for publication, though it won't be published until after August. The Appalachian Tiger Swallowtail (or "Appy" for short) is believed to be a rare case of "hybrid speciation" between two parent species (Eastern and Canadian Tigers), resulting in a fully-viable species (not your standard hybrid). But I'll let you read Dr. Kunte's summary yourself. Follow this link for a most interesting writeup: http://www.people.fas.harvard.edu/~kunte/PapilioGlaucus.htm Enjoy, Harry Pavulaan -- Enjoy
