Mexican Beaucarnea (Nolina auct. non.) recurvata is NOT a palm, but rather a
succulent now classified in the family Asparagaceae (former placements include
Agavaceae, Dracaenaceae, Liliaceae, Nolinaceae, and Ruscaceae). Except for a
couple New World lycaenids, I know of no other butterfly larvae that eat plants
in these two genera, so documented development of the Common Palmfly to
adulthood – versus an ovipositing mistake – would be a most interesting and
noteworthy discovery. May the "force" be with you, Blaise!

Best wishes,

Keith
