I've got a homemade trap dipole in my attic, and I spent a couple of hours Saturday afternoon/evening operating the 10m contest and I think I got about 3500 points from 27 Q's. The band was amazingly quiet except for all of the signals from all over. The highlight for was working a pair of ZL's. I'd never had the occasion to work anyone in New Zealand before. The cool part was this was more than an hour after it had gotten full dark.

10m was hotter than a $2 pistol all weekend. Amazing.

I had a great time working the contest this past weekend, while I didn't put in the time (maybe 2-3 hours tops) I was able to make about 20 or so contacts on my 12 dollar di-pole! It was fun, and sometimes challenging. Sometimes it was so busy I couldn't make out the person calling CQ, just too many people calling, like 100's in a room talking at the same time... but fun..

I haven't figured out 3830 yet, so no scores, and this also prompted me to get my LoTW setup as well... I am waiting for my post card with my pw.... it's a journey... :)

Contests like this, with great conditions, keep me interested in this hobby.... for one day I will feel confident enough to take the general and pass it. mean while I will play in the small 10M space I am allotted for Tech and enjoy the fun.

Thanks,

Rp
