Jon is correct.    857D is current….very nice radio (mil-spec, isn’t it?)

So far as I can tell, the ft-857d has not been discontinued. The ft-897 was 
discontinued recently and has features similar to the  '857d at qrp levels.

Forget the Icom and look at the Yaesu ft-857d.

 

The faceplate is smaller and no touch screen bs to distract you. Get a 
screwdriver antenna for hf and a browning for 2M and 70cm. Sweet! How old is
