Hi Rick and BVARC

I want to thank all the members of BVARC who showed up. I'm sorry I didn't
get to meet everyone who made the long drive to Baytown as I was backing up
our VE coordinator who was sick and in the emergency room. Thankfully he
was tested and did not have Covid.

The location was St Mark UMC at 3811 North Main. The event was in the
church parking lot and the VE testing was in the church gymnasium. We
estimated 200 showed up. We had 2 boy scout troops to help direct
traffic. We had a few stations set up for and many of the boyscouts and
non-ham visitors got a chance to operate. We had a special event station
call sign W5B.

John Kruk wanted to come and represent but Yaesu is still not allowing
travel. Yaesu, Diamond Antenna, MFJ, sent door prizes and "swag". Stuart
Wolfe was there from ARRL.

There was a lot of buying and selling. Many of the hams I have talked to
said they sold more than they expected.

As a member of BVARC I totally understand the decision to cancel the 2021
greater Houston hamfest. There is still a lot of uncertainty with Covid 19
and large gatherings. I do know that many of our Elmers were grateful to
get out and socialise. They all practiced social distancing.

We may do more "tailgate" sales in the future but very much look forward to
the "real" hamfests when they come back.

PS: we have 10 Dell laptops which were set up for VE testing - We are
offering them up for sale to anyone who needs one. They would make a great
shack computer. They were donated by Troy Construction and all proceeds
will go to the Eastside Amateur Radio Service. Please email me for the
price and specs. w5...@arrl.net
