AI will soon eliminate college essay requirements just as electronic calculators eliminated the usage of my slide rule in high school. Sure, there are AI analysis programs out now to identify whether a college essay was written by AI, but the cat is out of the bag, because AI is evolving magnitudes faster by the day. It is self learning. And there is a dark side. AI can be set up with starting parameters to be biased. As in election and candidate articles. But none of that worries me more than AI becoming a terrorist weapon. Another threat most people are not aware of is the VAST array of simple jobs that will be eliminated. HR jobs will be first, but the list is endless. It is estimated that 30% of workforce will be taken out by AI...and that estimate is only for now....think 5 yrs down the road. Kids these days better be considering "hands-on" jobs instead of college degrees if they want a sustainable income later in life. And they better look into the future as best as possible to identify hands-on jobs that will NOT be easily replaced by robotics. I spent 40 years programming robotics. It is evolving fast, and with addition of AI, expect robotic evolution to take a logarithmic increase. The world we live in now will be unrecognizable in 5 years.
