I have used outside antennas for most of my lifeĀ and never had a lightning
strike (that i know of)
I always hear Hams going to take down an antennaor unscrew the coax when a
storm is coming.
I WOULD NEVER EVER touch a coax or antenna if I couldhear thunder or if a storm
was near..
Trying to protect your gear may end your life.
