Thanks, Larry. Fred, KI5WOC loaned me a tapped HF mobile vertical so I'll
try that first. Appreciate it, though. I'll get with you if I need the 6/2M
whip. I'm also borrowing a portable flag direction finding loop for
triangulation..

Al,

I've used my mag mount 6/2M whip connected to an HF rcvr in the SUV to track
down local noise. No directionality but you can tell when you get close to
something noisy. You can borrow it if you would like to give it a try.

Subject: [BVARC] Borrow/buy mobile HF antenna

I have determined that I really need a better antenna to locate the rogue
RFI sources in my area. To that purpose, I would like to borrow (or buy
used) a mobile HF antenna. I used to have a Yaesu ATAS-100, but alas I
cannot find it. Maybe it's in the barn. In any case then I would need
something to control it with (I used to have a controller, too). I tried to
locate the sources with the built-in 12" whip, but it's useless probably
until I get really close to the source. I have adapters and cables to
connect a PL259 directly to the Tiny SA Spectrum Analyzer. The noise sources
have been observed as low as the 40 meter band all the way up to 15 meters,
but seem to be the strongest around 18 - 21 MHz.

If anyone has something I can use for a while until I find the RFI sources
or want to sell something, please let me know. If I need to purchase a mount
for my truck, I can do that.

TIA
