[two days later ...] We went to the Red Robin where Sun Microsystems bought a few rounds of drinks for us. Too bad we didn't hit any of the local microbrew pubs in the area. Oh, well. Next time. Portland is a great town. There were about 20-30 people in a room which was seated for about 200. So it made it look like a small gathering. One of the three speakers didn't show, which was fine as both Jeff from FreeGeek and I had plenty of material to talk about. There was only one general question at the end of the session, but as soon as the session was declared "over" both Jeff and I were rushed with people asking questions and requesting contact info. I'll jot down some more notes on the flight home. Some topics: - Held a One Laptop Per Child (OLPC) computer (got a photo, too) - Talked with Mark Shuttleworth - great to talk to. - Ubuntu Academy - desktop training - Ingot - UbuntuLive next year - Visited FreeGeek - Lots of photos. Check out their wiki. - Main themes - culture of collaboration, "do-ocracy", business+OpenSource I haven't seen it, yet, but apparently all the session slides are on-line along with the keynotes videos. Regards, - Robert
