I am not that familiar with Solaris but it seems that a lot of the unresolved messages are from std::xxx. You probably need to specify the standard c++ library on the link step. Perhaps the instructions at http://marc.theaimsgroup.com/?l=xerces-c-dev&m=111632243828922&w=2#1 might be helpful (it is for building the src but the same approach should work for the samples).
