Bill,
This is most likely a build problem. Have you tried to use the pre-compiled
2.8.0 binary for 64bit AIX? You can download it from:
http://xerces.apache.org/xerces-c/download.cgi
If that still doesn't work, I suggest that you try 3.0.1. There are currently
no plans to release a new version based on (or fix bugs in) the 2.8.0 code base.
