Debuggers allow you to step through your code line-by-line. You can (usually) see the values of variables. Visual Studio has the best debugger around - and that's not just my opinion. It blows away GDB - especially when it comes to C++ class and template resolution. Without a debugger, you end up putting printf()/cout's everywhere in your code to try to figure out where the bug is occurring. Hence the name 'debugger': You de-bug things with it. Hmm...I wonder if anyone has ever made a tool called a 'bugger' that introduces bugs into software applications? <Google search>. Interesting results but doesn't seem like anyone's actually bothered. -- Thomas Hruska CubicleSoft President Ph: 517-803-4197 *NEW* VerifyMyPC 2.3 Change tracking and management tool.
