You are probably going to find it a lot easier (and perhaps more 
rewarding) to just redo the project from scratch in C/C++.  I don't know 
why but BASIC programmers seem to want BASIC in C when they first 
arrive.  But you aren't alone.  I started out in BASIC too many years 
ago and wanted BASIC in C.  The two languages are quite different :)
